30hz Tapped horn, folded for a car

This is essentially the same sub as below, except it has only two drivers and will fit into a trunk very nicely.

  1. Hello John,

Thanks for the interesting design. I own two NS8s and I was planning on using this design for a home stereo sub.

    I have a few questions.

    1) Do you stuff, or line the walls with damping material?

2)In terms of the path lengths (3.125, 4.25, 5.875, 6.75), what distance does that represent? Is that distance a diagonal on this figure, or is it always a totally horizontal measurement at the mouth of the nearest opening?

Have you tried building this sub yet?

  2. I did build this sub, it sits behind my mains and tv in my living room. Its powered by the plate amp from an old polk audio sub. It sounds amazing and was worth the challenge of putting it all together. I did not stuff the horn nor line the walls with damping material. The path lengths are measured at the angle that stays in the center of the expanding path. It was there so I could be sure my path length was correct while designing it, and isn't absolutely neccesary to build it given the board lengths.
