It takes about 1.5 sheets of 4x8 to build.

Anyway it went toe to toe with my BFD THT-LP 36" wide with dual MFW-15 woofers (front loaded folded horn) in terms of quality and quantity of bass. 2 were a similar size to the existing horn but the build was so much faster than a folder horn. Obviously the 30hz TH vs a 22hz FLH left a some hertz on the table during LFE heavy movies and some dubstep music. I actually preferred the TH on some music. All tests were subjective by ear with multiple people.

It was clean enough so that I will will build a LilWrecker when I am ready to part with the THT-LP. Its powered by the plate amp from an old polk audio sub. It sounds amazing and was worth the challenge of putting it all together. I did not stuff the horn nor line the walls with damping material. The path lengths are measured at the angle that stays in the center of the expanding path. It was there so I could be sure my path length was correct while designing it, and isn't absolutely neccesary to build it given the board lengths.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06595382637072037509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4858784232143798700.post-82143243750203947632012-11-23T15:22:02.772-08:002012-11-23T15:22:02.772-08:00I used auras specs, I didn't build this partic...I used auras specs, I didn't build this particuar sub, but I built the smaller version and it sounds fantastic. Thanks for the interesting design. I ...Hello John,

Thanks for the interesting design. I own two NS8s and I was planning on using this design for a home stereo sub.

I have a few questions.

1) Do you stuff, or line the walls with damping material?

2)In terms of the path lengths (3.125, 4.25, 5.875, 6.75), what distance does that represent? Is that distance a diagonal on this figure, or is it always a totally horizontal measurement at the mouth of the nearest opening?

Have you tried building this sub yet?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11722699436569668518noreply@blogger.com
